Perfect Lie

~5-Star Review~

Perfect Lie completely captivated me!  It's the kind of book that will haunt your thoughts even after you finish reading the final page.  I was so hooked that I was almost late to work just because I wanted to read 'just a little more.' I was lucky enough to get a copy from the author in exchange for an honest review, and I completely devoured this book in less than 24 hours.  Who needs sleep when a story is this good?

One of the first things that drew me in to Perfect Lie, as well as Teresa Mummert's other stories, was the realness of the characters' pain. The pain that they experience will flow through flow off the pages, through your fingers, and straight into your soul.  But don't worry... while Mummert will take you on an emotional ride into the lowest depths you imagine possible, she will not leave you there.  She will complete the roller coaster ride with sweet redemption that will leave you wanting one more go on the ride.

There was no denying that Delilah was not wanted by her parents from birth.  Her mother made sure that Delilah knew that her biggest mistake was ever being born. As a teenager, Delilah is sent away to a center for troubled teens where she meets Brock. He was loving and protective - the love of her life - at 16. After a life altering event, she runs away to start a new life at college and meets Abel. The attraction is immediate and undeniable, but is he what she needs?

Fair warning, there is a huge twist at the end that will boggle your mind! There is no way that you will see it coming, but it is a good twist none the less.

I have to say that after reading Perfect Lie, Teresa Mummert is quickly becoming one of my favorite authors and this book has made it to my short list of favorites that I plan on reading again and again.

~Synopsis~

Sometimes love burns so hot in your veins that it consumes all rational thought.

That's why Brock and I never had a chance.  I had to start my life over. College was my chance to become someone new. I changed everything about myself to fit in, but one person saw through my facade.

The attraction between Abel and I was undeniable, but I still hadn't healed from the painful secret I carried around with me. Abel struggled to get me to face my past in order to move forward. In doing so, he revealed a secret of his own; one that changed everything I thought I knew.

A secret that would bring Brock back into my life and force me to face the truth of what really happened the day I lost him.

~Author Bio~

"I was a Russian spy at the ripe age of thirteen, given my uncanny ability to tell if someone was lying ( I also read fortunes on the weekends). By sixteen I had become too much of a handful for the Lethal Intelligence Ensemble (L.I.E.). I was quickly exiled to the south of France where I worked with wayward elephants in the Circus of Roaming Animals and People (C.R.A.P.). I was able to make ends meet by selling my organs on the black market for pocket change and beer money. At the age of twenty three I decided to expand my horizons and become a blackjack dealer in Ireland. I loved the family atmosphere at Barney's Underground Liquor Lounge (B.U.L.L.). People couldn't resist the allure of Liquor up front and poker in the rear. Eventually I became tired of the rear and headed off to the United States to try my hand at tall tales. That is what brings us here today. If you have a moment I'd like to tell you a story.
